Holiday Etiquette {5 Quick Tips}

December 13, 2014

It's holiday party time and hopefully your inbox is brimming with invites to soirées for the next 18 days. But before you get caught up in RSVP-ing and thinking about what you'll wear, be sure you're set to be a great guest. Need help? Follow these 5 tips and you're good to go!

1. First things first, when you receive an invite RSVP. Don't just show up to parties without doing so.

2. Read the invite carefully to note if it's for you or you and a guest, the attire preference and other pertinent details, and RSVP in a timely manner. (If you have questions, email the host for clarification well in advance; Don't make assumptions and don't pester them with questions while their in the flurry of day-of preparations. *If you know there's a chance you won't be able to attend, use the maybe option; Try not to throw caution to the wind and RSVP yes to everything that comes your way. Someone is making preparations based on as close an accurate number of attendees as possible.)

 3. Don't show up empty-handed. Take the host a thoughtful gift, e.g. flowers, gourmet coffee/tea, a book, spices, a candle ... You get the picture. (World Market is the best for gifts.)

4. Be on time. It's just considerate.

5. Send a thank you note. Since we've gotten back to loving handwritten notes, keep some blank Thank You cards on-hand (When you're in Target, check the Dollar Spot. I find some of the cutest cards there.)and just write a few lines. It only takes a moment.
